Product Details
Kason 11236C00005 Walk-In Locking Handle with Inside Lever Release
The Kason 11236C00005 is a 1236-series SafeGuard locking handle for compatible commercial walk-in cooler and freezer doors. This configuration combines a polished-chrome exterior handle, cylinder lock and lever-operated inside release for a flush-offset, 4" wall application.
The exterior handle pivots against its strike to help break the gasket seal when opening the door. The inside lever operates through a quarter turn. Match the complete manufacturer reference and existing door preparation before ordering.

Function and Commercial Use
This assembly provides exterior pulling and locking functions together with an interior release mechanism. It is intended for doors prepared for the matching handle, strike and through-door connection.
Use the original hardware reference and equipment documentation to establish fit. A matching equipment brand or similar exterior appearance does not confirm the required wall thickness, mounting pattern or release configuration.
Common Reasons to Inspect or Replace the Assembly
- The exterior handle binds or has excessive movement.
- The cylinder lock no longer operates consistently.
- The inside lever fails to release the locking mechanism.
- The handle body, strike or mounting points are damaged.
- The through-door connection is worn, loose or misaligned.
Inspect the hinges, gasket and door alignment along with the handle. A replacement handle will not correct a sagging door, damaged panel or incorrectly positioned strike.
Before You Order
- Match manufacturer reference 11236C00005.
- Confirm the flush-offset mounting arrangement.
- Verify the 4" wall application against the existing door assembly.
- Check that a lever-turn inside release is required.
- Compare mounting-hole spacing, strike location and through-door preparation.
- Confirm supplied keys, fasteners and other package contents before ordering.
Installation and Service
Have a qualified technician install the assembly according to Kason's instructions. Confirm that the exterior handle, strike and interior release work together without binding.
Test the complete inside-release operation with the door open, including the locked configuration, before returning the door to service. If the inside release does not operate correctly, keep the door out of service until the problem is corrected.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the manufacturer part number?
The manufacturer reference is Kason 11236C00005. Use the complete number when comparing the replacement to your original hardware.
Does this version include a lever or knob inside release?
This reference specifies the lever-turn inside release. Knob-release versions use different part numbers.
Is this suitable for an offset door?
This configuration is specified for flush offset. Do not substitute it for raised-offset hardware without confirming the complete mounting arrangement.
Can I use this on a thicker door?
This reference is specified for a 4" wall application. Other thicknesses require the appropriate configuration; do not assume the connecting components will fit.
Does the handle include a cylinder lock?
Yes. A cylinder lock is part of this configuration, and the handle also provides for a padlock. Confirm supplied keys and accessories with the order contents.
Is the handle stainless steel?
The handle body is die-cast zinc with a polished-chrome finish. It should not be described as a stainless-steel handle.
What information should I provide for fitment assistance?
Provide the existing part number, door thickness, mounting measurements and photos of the exterior handle, strike and inside release. Call 631-873-0509 for assistance.
